    209223 - Teen Horseback Riding

    Join us on this unforgettable trail ride through the Teenaway Valley. After saddling your own horse, mount up in a large outdoor arena and begin with a lesson on basic horsemanship and safety. Once you feel comfortable, the Flying Horseshoe Ranch wranglers will guide you through the breathtaking pine forest and meadows that cover the hills behind the ranch. All levels of riding ability are accommodated, as the horses are gentle and used to the trail. The fee includes transportation and horse rental. For safety of horse and rider, maximum weight restriction is 240 lbs. Jeans and sturdy boots required, with a large assortment of boots available to borrow. Helmets are also required and provided. We will cool off in the pool at the ranch after the ride so bring your swimsuit, water bottle, and picnic lunch!

    Learn valuable basic lifesaving skills. This one day program covers issues of personal safety, blood-borne pathogens, choking, all levels of CPR and other essential areas. This program provides a 2 years certification for infant, child & adult first aid/CPR and meets L&I and DSHS child care requirements. Class covers but does not certify AED. Instructor will collect an additional $25 materials fee the day of class (cash or check only). No refunds for this class. Bring a sack lunch.

    Ira Spring and Harvey Manning once described this hike as, “If there is a trail between earth and heaven, this is it.” From Sunrise we’ll hike 1.5 miles west to Frozen Lake and a five trail junction. From there we’ll continue upwards to First and Second Burroughs Mountain with stunning views all around. Then we’ll loop back on a trail overlooking the Emmons Glacier and the headwaters of the White River. Passing an abandoned campground, we’ll work our way back to Sunrise. Round trip is about 7 miles with an elevation gain of 1,200 ft. Difficulty rating: Moderate.

    From Sunrise we’ll follow part of the Wonderland Trail 1.5 miles to Frozen Lake and a five trail junction. We’ll continue below the flanks of Burroughs Mountain for another mile, climbing a bit through beautiful meadows and Berkeley Park. Once we reach 6,740 ft., Skyscraper Pass, we can enjoy the views, or go for the summit, 300 ft. above. Round trip is 7.9 miles and elevation gain of 1,700 ft. Difficulty rating: Moderate.

    Join on this day long cruise which combines orca watching with an on-board naturalist, a tour of San Juan Islands, and a visit to Friday Harbor for shopping and sightseeing. The cruise departs from Port Townsend aboard the Glacier Spirit, a Puget Sound Express boat. Last summer we were rewarded with a beautiful sunny day and numerous, continuous orca whale sightings. It was an unforgettable experience! This tour includes a 2 hour layover in Friday Harbor for shopping or quick sightseeing. Bring a picnic lunch, snacks, and/or money to purchase lunch and dinner on the way back to Lacey City Hall.

In June, watch the Mariners against the Kansas City Royals (Section 117/Row 20 & 21) and on Labor Day we take on the Baltimore Orioles (Section 126/Row 30.) Just relax in these great seats and leave the driving and parking to us. The fee for each game includes game ticket, van transportation, parking, and staff.
